Getz now an Eagle Scout

Dylan Getz of Troop 32 in Denver has earned the highest rank in scouting, the Eagle Scout Award. Dylan is the son of Sallie Getz and the late Kerwin Getz.

Getz began his scouting career with Pack 132, continuing on to join Troop 32, Boy Scouts of America.. As a Boy Scout he earned 33 merit badges and held various leadership positions including patrol leader, assistant senior patrol leader, senior patrol leader, and junior assistant scout master. He was selected Brotherhood membership in the Wunita Gohkos Lodge 39 of the Order of the Arrow, the Scouting honor society.

Getz’s Eagle Scout Project was landscaping along the west side of the Recreation Center in the Denver Memorial Park. This involved clearing the area, removing mold from the building, designing the layout, and planting shrubbery and flowers; finishing with decorative mulch. He obtained funding, recruited labor, and supervised the project as well as providing hands on participation.

Getz is a 2015 graduate of Cocalico High School where he participated in various band activities. He was an ambassador for People to People touring England and Scotland. He volunteers in many community events including the Denver Fair and Denver Day, and is a member of Denver Fire Company No.1; beginning his firefighting career as a junior firefighter at the age of 14. Getz participated in church youth groups and is a member of Trinity United Methodist Church in Denver.

In the fall he will attend Pennsylvania College of Technology majoring in computer networking systems. He plans to continue scouting with Troop 32 and Venture Crew 532 of Denver. Both units are chartered by the Denver Lions Club.
