Gregory J. Shelley had a blood-alcohol level of .34 percent — more than four times Pennsylvania’s legal limit for drivers — when he was tested shortly after the Jan. 24, 2015, crash on Route 272 in East Cocalico Township.

According to newspaper records, the crash occurred in the 1600 block of North Reading Road when the car driven by Shelley crossed into the northbound lane and struck a tractor-trailer driven by Kevin Martin, 51, of Ephrata. Shelley was taken to Reading Hospital for treatment of serious injuries sustained in the crash.

Shelley recently entered a plea agreement in Lancaster County Court, the Lancaster County district attorney’s office reported. Assistant District Attorney Andrew Lefever, who prosecuted, said it was his third DUI conviction.

According to the terms of the plea bargain, Shelley will serve one to five years in prison, pay $3,050 in fines and pay $18,445 in restitution for damage to the truck driver’s rig.
