By on September 2, 2015

The Woman’s Club of Denver will hold its first meeting of the 2015/2016 club year on Wednesday, Sept. 9, at the Faith United Lutheran Church, at 7 p.m.

The program for the evening will be “History of Hats” by Lisa High. Presented will be a collection of historically accurate vintage hats representing each decade the Bollman Hat Co., Adamstown, has been in business. Enjoy these beautiful men’s and women’s hats and learn a bit of history as the club time-travels back to 1868 when the Bollman Hat Co., America’s oldest hat maker, was founded.

The film “Lincoln” and the hit miniseries “Downton Abbey” make these hats a timely topic. Additionally, U.S. history trivia will keep folks on their toes! High is assistant director of the Pequea Valley Public Library.

The Arts Committee’s culinary feature for the month will be apples. Members are encouraged to bring their favorite apple dish.

Hostesses for the evening will be Carolyn Kramer and Jean Shober. Anna Rose Schannauer will provide the devotions and display her lighthouse collection. Mindi Stoner will provide the head table arrangement. The refreshments will be provided by Lillian Troutman, Melissa Voler, and Sally Wealand. Guests are invited to attend.
