‘Doubt’ at EPAC opens Sept. 7

Ephrata Performing Arts Center will be presenting the play “Doubt,” written by John Patrick Shanley.

“Doubt” is set in the fictional St. Nicholas Church School in the Bronx during the fall of 1964. It follows the schools rigid and vigilant principal, Sister Aloysius, and her attempts to uncover the true nature of Father Flynn’s interest in the school’s first black student, Donald Miller. Father Flynn preaches on the importance of doubt, but now he’s the one in question.

The inspiration for the 2008 Academy Award-winning movie of the same name, “Doubt” deals with the uncomfortable and controversial issues of child abuse within the Catholic Church and forms a parable of incrimination and humanity.

“Doubt” will run Sept. 7 through 16, at the Sharadin Bigler Theatre, 320 Cocalico St., Ephrata.

Tickets can be purchased at ephrataperformingartscenter.com or by calling 717-733-7966 x1.
