Five placed at Irish Dance Championships

Nineteen local youth from Hooley School of Irish Dance in Akron, between ages of 9 and 17, competed in the 2015 North American Irish Dance Championships at the Rhode Island Convention Center in Providence, Rhode Island,July 1-5.

The event was an official qualifier for the World Irish Dance Championships and brought close to 6,000 competitors from around the world and their teachers to Rhode Island for the event.

TCRG Certified Irish Dance teachers Crystal Glick Carper and Angelina Glick Press and several of their Assistant Teachers also attended the championships.

The following students placed nationally:

Bella Carper – Girls Under 12 – earned top 50 percent recall and finished 34th in the nation;

Allyson McDaniel – Girls Under 17 – earned top 50 percent recall and finished 63rd in the nation;

Olivia Raff – Girls Under 10 – earned top 50 percent recall and finished 38th in the nation;

Carter Ishler – Boys Under 15 – earned top 50 percent recall and finished 14th in the nation; and

Faith Ishler – Ladies Under 18 – earned top 50 percent recall and finished 31st in the nation.

“All five met their goal of earning the top 50 percent recall, so we were very pleased,” said instructor Crystal Glick Carper.
