Lemonade Concert will feature vocal contest winners

OperaLancaster Associates recently announced the winners of its 2016 Vocal Performance Award Competition. This is a competition for classically trained musicians. The contest winners will be showcased in a Lemonade Concert on June 23 at Highland Presbyterian Church, 500 E. Roseville Road, Lancaster, at 7 p.m.

The performers will present a variety of music that evening including art songs, opera arias, musical theatre and lighter numbers.

Those performing will be:

First Place – College Division: Christiana Goslin of New Providence, who attends Eastman School of Music in Rochester, N.Y.

Second Place – College Division: Sarah Stine of Manheim, who attends Susquehanna University in Selinsgrove.

First Place – High School Division: Brynn Jacobs of Mountville, Hempfield High school.

Second Place – High School Division: Ethan Fasnacht, 2016 Ephrata High School graduate.

The Summer Lemonade Concert Series highlights local talent and generates funds for OperaLancaster endeavors as well as funding for a vocal competition.

The prizes are funded by Kathy Seaber, in memory of her mother, Dorothy Hughes, a longtime member of Opera Lancaster Associates. Judges for the competition were Debra Lenssen of Lancaster and Roger Lentz of Lebanon.
