Next concert features popular show tunes

Music from the Broadway shows “Oliver” and “Oklahoma” and marches by the Pennsylvania bandleader and composer Monroe Althouse will be among the selections that the Ephrata Concert Band will play on July 9 starting at 7:15 p.m.

The band plays a different program of diverse musical genres at the band shell at the foot of Cocalico Street in Ephrata Borough’s Grater Park each Sunday evening through July 23.

Martin Hinkley will conduct the July 9 concert. Admission is free. Donations to the band will be accepted. The public is urged to bring folding chairs.

In the event of extreme weather, the concert will be moved inside the Ephrata Recreation Center at 130 S. Academy Drive.
