A free World War II event, featuring reenactors that will take visitors back to the 1940s, will be held at the Oehme Gardens of the Lititz Historical Foundation on Aug. 13

Free big band concert part of WWII event at Oehme Gardens

The Lititz Historical Foundation will host a special World War II-themed evening on Sunday, Aug. 13, at 6:30 p.m.

The King Street Big Band of Lancaster will be playing a free concert in the Mary Oehme Gardens behind the museum at 145 E. Main St. in downtown Lititz.

There will also be several World War II reenactors, vehicles, “The Victory Sisters,” artifacts, free food and (non-alcoholic) drinks.

Guests are encouraged to come dressed in 1940s-era fashion.

“America Homefront,” a 1940s traveling museum in which guests can walk through several rooms set up like a typical American home during that time in history.

The entire evening is free and open to the public, and there is plenty of free on-street parking. Visitors are welcome to bring lawn chairs and invite family, friends and neighbors.

The musical entertainment is sponsored by Moravian Manor and Luthercare.

The rain date is Sunday Aug. 20.
