‘Into the Woods Jr.’ will feature local youth

The Brothers Grimm fairytales come to life in “Into the Woods Jr.,” presented by Dutch Apple Theatre in upcoming weeks.

This mixed-up musical features favorite characters: Cinderella, Little Red Riding Hood, Jack and his giant beanstalk, the baker and his wife and many more! The musical centers on a baker and his wife who wish to have a child; Cinderella who wishes to attend the King’s festival; and Jack, who wishes his cow would give milk. When the baker and his wife learn that they cannot have a child because of a witch’s curse, the two set off on a journey to break the curse and wind up changed forever. This fairy tale teaches us all to think about our wishes and the choices that we make.

“Into the Woods Jr.” will be performed by the advanced session students in the Broadway Bound program who have performed in numerous theatres in Central Pennsylvania. Broadway Bound is a camp that provides “young actors the opportunity to participate in a theatrical experience which will develop confidence, responsibility and teamwork.” Each student has auditioned to be part of the program. The show will be directed by and have sets and costumes created by the professional staff at the Dutch Apple.
