Convoy tradition continues
With a balmy 86 degree forecast projected here for Sunday, it’s a sure bet that thousands of Ephrata area residents will bring bag chairs and blankets and head out to a long-running Mother’s Day tradition here.
In its 26th year, the Mother’s Day Truck Convoy benefiting Make-A-Wish will begin at Burle Business Center this Sunday, May 10. The event is a fun-filled day for the entire family starting at 8:30 a.m. with a live auction, games, food and entertainment. The truck convoy leaves Burle Business Center precisely at 1:30 p.m. and travels from Lancaster to Ephrata and back while being viewed by thousands of individuals who come out to see this tradition.
The convoy, which generally arrives in the area before 2 p.m., has in recent years seen more than 300 trucks participating, many carrying “Wish” children. Residents have long lined up at spots near 222 for the ride in and ride back, but also along 272 (not in the bridge construction areas), South State Street and East Main Street/322
Make-A-Wish Philadelphia, Northern Delaware & Susquehanna Valley, the area’s largest wish granting organization serving seriously ill children, recently announced a partnership with RoadPro Family of Brands as the presenting sponsor of the 26th Annual Mother’s Day Truck Convoy.
“Make-A-Wish is delighted to partner with RoadPro Family of Brands for this year’s Mother’s Day Truck Convoy that has risen to become one of Lancaster County’s most popular fund-raisers,” said Paulette Battenfelder, regional executive director. “RoadPro’s participation will help us grow this amazing event. The real life beneficiaries of this fund-raiser are local children suffering with life-threatening medical conditions.”
“The RoadPro Family of Brands is proud to be the presenting sponsor of such a caring organization. We share the belief that providing a wish experience for children suffering with lifethreatening medical conditions results in a positive impact,” said Chuck White, vice president, brands and marketing, RoadPro Brands.
