Ephrata Area School District has been named one of the ‘Best Communities for Music Education” in the United States for 2015.’

Ephrata Area School District has been named among the “2015 Best Communities for Music Education” in the United States, according to the National Association of Music Merchants Foundation. The district also received this recognition in 2005, 2008, 2010, and 2014.

Of the 388 school districts recognized nationwide, Ephrata Area School District was one of only three Lancaster County schools to receive this distinction.

The district received a score above the 80th percentile via an online survey. Survey participants answered detailed questions about support for the music program, music class participation, instruction time, facilities, funding, graduation requirements, and other relevant factors in school district music education programs.

“This recognition is the result of an extremely dedicated staff and continued support from the entire Ephrata Area School District and community,” said James Kimmel, district related arts supervisor.

“We recognize how much all of our extra-curricular programs contribute to the overall student experience. We are thankful that our community shares that view and provides incredible support for all of the performing arts. This national recognition by NAMM is yet another piece of evidence of what the Ephrata Area School District and community can do when we share a common mission for our students,” said Dr. Brian Troop, superintendent.
