Ephrata library to host prom dress exchange

By on March 26, 2014

Beginning April 1, the Ephrata Public Library will be collecting gently used prom dresses, suits and other accessories for its first Prom Dress Exchange. Donations can be made until April 19 when the library will open its doors to local high school students so that they can browse the Library Boutique and take what they need for free.

“Prom is an event that a lot of students look forward to, but the cost of purchasing a ticket, a dress or suit, flowers and so on adds up quickly and, in some cases, can make attending the dance prohibitively expensive,” said Library Public Programs Manager Rebecca Zinner. “Our goal is to alleviate some of the financial burden so that more students will be able to attend Prom, worry-free.”

The library will set up fitting rooms and hold drawings for special prizes, such as free Prom tickets, April 19. Patrons interested in making a donation or attending the Prom Dress Exchange can find program details by visiting the library’s website at ephratapubliclibrary.org, by phone at 738-9291 or in person at the library, located at 550 South Reading Road, Ephrata, during normal business hours.
