New fair season kicks off Saturday

By on September 7, 2011

September means fair season here in northeastern Lancaster County and this Saturday it all gets underway in downtown Ephrata.

The 38th annual Ephrata Merchants Arts and Crafts Festival and Restaurant Fair will unfold along Main Street Sept. 10, with dozens and dozens of vendors filling the downtown from 9 a.m. to 3 p.m. In addition to all the arts and crafts on sale, there will be plenty of local food vendors on hand as well. For more information, call 733-1298.

Then on Tuesday, Sept. 13, the action shifts to Denver park for the start of the five-day Denver Fair (see Cocalico section for more details), celebrating its 31st year.

Finally, the granddaddy of them all arrives early this year in downtown Ephrata the following week, as set-up for the 93rd annual Ephrata Fair begins on Monday, Sept. 19, with the official opening the next day. The event, sponsored by the Ephrata Farmers Day Association, runs through Saturday, Sept. 24. Check out additional articles this week, as well as next week’s edition for more details. Official fair guides are available at locations throughout town, including The Ephrata Review office. More FAIR, page A16
