Alegra R. Steffy, 95, Ephrata native, worked at J.C. Penney, devoted wife and mother

Alegra R. Steffy, 95, of Albuquerque, N.M., passed away April 6, 2015.

She was born in Ephrata, the daughter of the late Fred and Annie Kilhefner. She was preceded in death by her husband of 68 years: Harry Steffy

Alegra was a devoted wife and mother. She was an amazing caregiver to her husband during his lengthy illness. In the 50s and 60s, she worked in retail for J.C. Penney. Alegra lived in Ephrata; Indianapolis, Ind.; Clearwater, Fla.; and moved to Albuquerque in 1957.

She is survived by her brother: Ray Kilhefner, of Ephrata; her sister: Betty Zimmerman of Spring City; her son: Larry Steffy, of Albuquerque, N.M.; her daughter: Janet Delgado of Alamogordo, N.M.; six grandsons; two granddaughters; 20 great-grandchildren; and 15 great-great grandchildren.

In addition to her husband, Alegra was predeceased by her daughter: Linda Hanson; five brothers; and two sisters.

Funeral services were held April 14 at French – Westside, Albuquerque. Interment followed at Gate of Heaven Catholic Cemetery in Albuquerque.
