Allen David Burkholder, 73, farmer, father of eight, attended Meadow Springs Mennonite

Allen David Burkholder, 73, passed away in his Newmanstown home on Wednesday, May 31, 2017.

He was the husband of Anna Ruth Martin Burkholder. He was born in Ephrata Township on March 5, 1944, a son of the late Joseph O. and Susanna E. High Burkholder.

Allen was a retired farmer and a member of the Meadow Springs Mennonite Church, Myerstown.

Surviving, in addition to his wife, are children: Verna Wise and husband Raymond of Phelps, N.Y.; Lucille Martin and husband Wilmer of Bernville; Calvin Burkholder and wife Elaine of Mifflintown; Edna Burkholder of Newmanstown; John Burkholder and wife Joanne of Edgar, Wisc.; Mary Burkholder of Newmanstown; Martha Auker and husband Glenn of Womelsdorf; Elizabeth Hoover and husband Alvin of Blain; 57 grandchildren; seven great-grandchildren; brothers, Amos Burkholder of Spencer, TN; Luke Burkholder of Memphis, MO; Melvin Burkholder and wife Lizzie of Hahnstown; Phares J. Burkholder and wife Lydia, WI; Norman H. Burkholder and wife Norma of Schoeneck; sisters, Mary H. Burkholder and Annie H. Burkholder, both of Ephrata.

He was preceded in death by a sister: Rebecca H. Burkholder.

Services were held June 5 at Meadow Springs Mennonite Church, Myerstown. Burial was in the adjoining church cemetery. Please omit flowers.
