Alvin G. Wise, 83, self-employed painter, gardener, Store House Ministries founder

Alvin G. Wise, 83, formerly of Stevens, passed away on Thursday, Aug. 24, 2017, at Hospice and Community Care, Mount Joy.

He was born in Earl Township. to the late Henry and Ruth (Getz) Wise, and was the husband of the late Merla (Rabold) Wise, who passed away in 2001.

He attended Reamstown Church of God for many years and had a ministry known as Store House Ministries. Alvin was a self-employed painter. He enjoyed gardening, woodworking, hunting, and raising bunnies.

Alvin is survived by a son: Rick L., husband of Shirley (Kramer) Wise, of Roaring Branch; two daughters: LuAnn, wife of Ronald Martin, of Ephrata; Teresa W., wife of Philip Lefever, of Denver; six grandchildren; 13 great-grandchildren; four great-great-grandchildren; a brother: Carl, husband of Mary Wise, of Ephrata; and a sister: Mildred Frederick of Cocalico.

In addition to his wife and parents, he was preceded in death by three brothers: Robert, Henry Jr., and Paul Wise; and four sisters: Joanne Martin, Esther Wise, Ruth (Doll) Weaver, and Pauline White.

Services were held Aug. 29 at Reamstown Church of God, Stevens, with Pastor Arthur T. Karick officiating. Interment took place in the Mellingers Union Cemetery.
