87, Ephrata, enjoyed reading, Mahjong, caring for her grandkids

Amanda C. Leisey, 87, of Ephrata, passed from this world to the next, to be with her husband and her daughter, on Wednesday, Feb. 7, 2018, at Lancaster Care and Rehab.

Amanda was born in Reading on May 22, 1930. She was the daughter of Bernard Chanton and Mary (Wagner) Chanton.

Preceding Amanda in death were her parents; and her husband: the late Nelson L. Leisey Sr.; and a daughter: Colleen A. Hauck (Jim).

Surviving Amanda are her children: Eileen L. Swinehart (Ed) of Quarryville; Kathleen M. Wampler (Randy) of Annville; Ann L. Kleinfelter (Glen), Oxbow, Maine; Nelson L. Leisey Jr. (Lori) of Ephrata; 11 grandchildren; and 17 great-grandchildren. Also, surviving Amanda are two sisters: Ellen V. Ruth, of Lititz; Mary Anne Stachura of Myrtle Beach, S.C.; and numerous nieces and nephews.

Amanda was a gentle and loving woman who enjoyed reading, traveling, playing Mahjong, and caring for her grandchildren and her animals.

Services were held Feb. 13 at Paul L. Gravenor Home for Funerals, Ephrata. Burial at Indiantown Gap National Cemetery will be private and at the convenience of the family.

The family wants to thank the staff of Lancaster Care and Rehab for their extraordinary care.
