Barbara Ann Kephart, 74, Ephrata, PennDOT retiree; her passion was taking care of others

Barbara Ann (Snyder) Kephart, 74, of Ephrata, passed away Sunday, Jan. 25, 2015, at her residence, after a courageous battle with melanoma.

She was born Dec. 5, 1940, in Concord, to the late James and Valera (Shoop) Snyder and was the wife of the late Gary Kephart Sr. with whom she shared 55 years of marriage.

Barbara retired from the Pennsylvania Department of Transportation. During her retirement she enjoyed spending time with family, especially her four grandchildren. Barbara was a generous, loving, selfless woman. Her passion was taking care of others.

She is survived by four children: Tracy Ann, wife of Joseph J. Banik of Ephrata; Gary Jr., husband of Melissa (James) Kephart of Sykesville, Md.; Leslie Ann Lambert of York; Jennifer Lynn, wife of Robert Hadley of Spring Mills; four grandchildren: Katie Banik, Ava Kephart, Ella Hadley, Allison Lambert; and eight brothers and sisters.

A prayer service will take place Friday, Jan. 30, at 6 p.m., at Our Mother of Perpetual Help Catholic Church, 330 Church Ave., Ephrata, with Father John J. McLoughlin, C.SS.R. as celebrant. Interment will be private at the convenience of the family.

In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions in Barbara ‘s memory may be made to the Tara Miller Foundation, P.O. Box 3154, Margate, NJ 08402.
