Barbara G. Galebach, 90, Weaver’s Markets retiree, United Fellowship pianist, mother of six

Barbara G. (Kanode) Galebach, 90, of Lititz, formerly of Ephrata, passed away peacefully on Sunday, June 3, 2018 at United Zion Retirement Community in Lititz, where she had been under hospice care and died of natural causes.

Born May 15, 1928 in Mount Joy, Barbara was a daughter of the late William and Anna (Ginder) Kanode.

Raised in Bedford County; her family returned to Lancaster County where she married Ray L. Galebach of Ephrata (formerly of Lincoln). They celebrated 61 years of marriage before his death, and together they raised six children.

Barbara worshipped at the United Fellowship of Reinholds, where she enjoyed playing piano for worship services until unable to do so. Working outside the home, she retired from Weaver’s Markets.

A homemaker and seamstress, she will be lovingly remembered by her family as a mother, grandmother and great-grandmother, who enjoyed making quilts and baby blankets, gardening, crafting, and music.

In addition to her husband and parents; Barbara was preceded in death by three brothers: Paul (died at birth), Amos, and Irwin; and two sisters: Anna and Esther.

She is survived by six children: Barbara M. King, wife of Donald R. King of Lancaster; Margaret L. High, wife of the late Harold M. High, Denver; Lewis R. Galebach, husband of Robin A. Bachman of Loretto; Arlene A. Kaylor, wife of Paul L. Kaylor of Willow Street; Vivian J. Galebach of Denver; Eugene A. Galebach, husband of Mary J. of Tyrone, PA; 10 grandchildren, and 10 great-grandchildren.

Services were held at Gravenor Home for Funerals, Ephrata, on June 7, with Rev. John Leisey officiating. Place of interment was Lincoln Cemetery, Lincoln-Ephrata.

In lieu of flowers, contributions may be made in Barbara’s memory to The Benevolent Fund at United Zion Retirement Community, 722 Furnace Hills Pike, Lititz, PA 17543.
