Benito Luciano-Cruz, 83, of Akron, beloved husband, father, uncle, grandfather, great-grandfather, and “friend to many” passed on at his home Sunday, Feb. 9, 2014 after a long battle of illness.

Born in Adjuntas, Puerto Rico, he was the son of the late Juan Luciano and Maria Eugenia Cruz.

He owned a myriad of businesses and retired from Boose Aluminum Foundry in Reamstown.

Benito was a member of Our Mother of Perpetual Help Church in Ephrata and was a 4th Degree Knight of Columbus.

He leaves behind his beloved wife of 25 years Rebecca S. (Schlotterer) Luciano and their children: Christopher, Victoria and Rosemary.

In addition, Benito is survived by his children: John, Blanche, Herman, Norma, Margarita, Benino, Tomas and Maria; and their mother: Angela Plaza-Luciano; son: Cory Smith and his siblings: Julio, Ana, Confesor, Gilberto, Myriam and Providencia.

In addition to his parents, Benito was preceded in death by three sisters: Paulina, Aida and Teresa.

A mass of Christian burial was celebrated at Our Mother of Perpetual Help Church, Ephrata, Feb. 17. Final commendation and farewell followed at Cedar Hill Cemetery, Ephrata.
