Bernice I. Boyer, 90, Colonial Lodge caregiver, Salem E&R member, enjoyed cooking

Bernice I. Boyer, 90, of Stevens, passed away Saturday, June 25, 2016, at Ephrata Manor.

She was born in Mohnton to the late Benjamin Franklin and Mamie (Snader) Steffy, and was the wife of the late Jonathan H. Boyer, who passed away in 2005.

She was a member of the Salem Evangelical and Reformed Church in Reamstown. She enjoyed cooking and being a caregiver to others. Bernice formerly worked as a caregiver in the personal care section of the Colonial Lodge.

Bernice is survived by two daughters: Barbara F., wife of Paul E. Brubaker Jr., of Ephrata; and Constance M. Boyer, at home; two granddaughters: Angela M. Brubaker and Amanda S. Groff.

In addition to her husband, she was preceded in death by three sisters: Mabel Witwer, Goldie Beamesderfer, and Etta Forry.

A viewing will be held Thursday, June 30, from 10 to 11 a.m., at the Roseboro Stradling Funeral Home, 533 Walnut St., Denver. Funeral services will follow at 11 a.m., with Pastor Joel Hertzog officiating. Interment will take place in the Pleasant View Cemetery.
