Bervin L. Barr, 84, Korea vet, licensed auctioneer, owned Barr’s Auction and Antique World

Bervin L. Barr, 84, Ephrata, passed away Sunday, Nov. 20, 2016, at Lancashire Hall.

Born in Allentown, he was the son of the late Earl and Anna Boose Barr.

Bervin had been a licensed auctioneer, owning Barr’s Auction and later Barr’s Auction and Antique World for more than 45 years.

A U.S. Army veteran, he served as a corporal during the Korean War, stationed in Japan as an ordnance specialist.

He loved his dogs, dancing, and knew how to deal and buy items. He also enjoyed fishing and traveling in his RV. He was a member of the Ephrata Veterans of Foreign Wars Post 3376, the American Legion, and the Elks.

He is survived by his children: Tim, married to Kathy Barr, of Ephrata; B. John Barr of Ephrata; and Ann Marie Gunselman of Willow Street; three grandchildren: Jordan and Tyler Gunselman and Nicole Harman; and two great grandchildren: Kyle Bailey and Alayna Harman. He is also survived by his siblings: Emil V. Barr of Ephrata; Arthur Barr of Lititz; Marie Moore of Arlington, Texas; and Jim Barr of Ahoskie, N.C.; and by his companion, Sylvia Skolnick.

A memorial service was held at the Charles F. Snyder Jr. Funeral Home and Crematory, Lititz.
