Betty Jane Whitcraft, 90, Science Press worker, Pioneer Aux. volunteer, loved her Bichons

Betty Jane (Garner) Whitcraft, 90, of Ephrata, passed away Wednesday, April 26, 2017, at Hospice and Community Care, Mount Joy.

She was born in Lancaster County to the late Frank and Catherine (Spangler) Garner, and was the wife of the late Samuel N. Whitcraft.

Betty worked in the sewing department for Dutchmaid, and later in the binding department for Science Press. She was a member of the Pioneer Fire Company Ladies Auxiliary. She enjoyed gardening; attending craft fairs; and loved being grandmother to her two Bichons: Barney, who passed in 2016; and Molly who is now 18 months old.

Betty is survived by a son: Donald Whitcraft, who provided care the last six years at their home in Ephrata; two grandsons: Christopher and Doug Whitcraft, both of Ephrata; three brothers: James R., companion of Carol Eicker, of Lansdowne; Charles L., husband of Patricia Lausch, of Downingtown; Gary L., husband of Beverly Lausch, of South Carolina; many nieces and nephews; great-nieces and nephews; and great-great-nieces and nephews.

In addition to her parents and husband, she was preceded in death by a son: Larry Paul Whitcraft.

A visitation will be held on Wednesday, May 3, from 10 to 11 a.m., at the Stradling Funeral Home, 201 Church Ave., Ephrata, followed by funeral services at 11 a.m., with Chaplain Nilda Roman officiating. Interment will take place in the Cedar Hill Cemetery.
