Charles A. Mirack, 91, WWII vet, National Ticket Co. retiree, OMPH parishioner

Charles A. Mirack, 91, of Ephrata, and formerly of Shamokin, passed away Sunday, Nov. 13, 2016, at Ephrata Manor.

Born Dec. 17, 1924 in Shamokin, he was the son of the late Anthony and Mary (Bressi) Mirack. Charles was married to Irene (Skovrinski) Mirack for 66 years.

A U.S. Navy veteran, Charles served during World War II. He retired from National Ticket Co. in Shamokin in 1994; and at that time moved to Ephrata where he was a member of Our Mother of Perpetual Help Church.

In addition to his wife, Irene, he is survived by his daughter: Mary Ann, wife of Daryl Schumacher, of Stevens; three grandsons: Jason Mirack; Nathan Schumacher, husband of Emily (Shopf); and Travis Schumacher, husband of Rebecca (Bowman); one granddaughter: Janelle Mirack; and four great-grandchildren: Aydin, Sophia, Lilli, and Colin. Also surviving are Charles’ siblings: Gloria Strenkoski; Teresa Flemming; Louise Gurba; Vincent Mirack; Joseph Mirack, husband of Norma; Jeanette Mirarchi; and Antoinette Mirarchi; and several nieces and nephews.

In addition to his parents, Charles was preceded in death by his son: Charles Barry Mirack; and one sister: Rose Koskinski.

Charles’ family would like to express their thanks to the staff of Ephrata Manor for the care that they provided him.

Services were held Nov. 18 at Our Mother of Perpetual Help Church, Ephrata. He was interred at Cedar Hill Cemetery, Ephrata, with military honors accorded by the Red Rose Veterans Honor Guard.
