Cora E. Wenger, 88, Denver, Cinderella Knitting retiree, guitarist, active in vet groups

Cora E. Wenger, 88, of Denver, passed away Saturday, April 23, 2016, at Hospice and Community Care in Mount Joy.

Cora was born in Earl Township, and was a longtime resident of Denver.

She retired from the former Cinderella Knitting Mill in Denver in 1990 and was a former member of Holy Trinity Lutheran Church in Ephrata. She was a member of the Reinholds VFW Post 6759 Auxiliary and life member of the American Legion Conestoga Post No. 662 in New Holland.

Cora enjoyed reading, playing guitar, going to the mountains and the shore, and loved spending time with her family; especially her grandchildren and great-grandchildren.

She is survived by her loving husband: Harold W. Wenger; one son: Leonard L. Wenger, husband of Darlene A., of Ephrata; two grandchildren: Andrew L. Wenger, husband of Paula A., of Sinking Spring; and Jill C., wife of Jesse L. Youndt, of Denver; three great-grandchildren; two step-great-grandchildren; and one brother: George W. Stafford of Ephrata.

Cora was preceded in death by her parents: Henry and Laura (For) Stafford; and six siblings: Hilda M. Hornberger, Irene Flickinger, Paul, Henry Jr., Frank, and Raymond Stafford.

Funeral services officiated by the Rev. Herbert Lohr will be held at 11 a.m. on Friday, April 29, at Paul L. Gravenor Home for Funerals, 100 W. Main St., Ephrata. Cora’s family will receive friends before the service from 10 to 11 a.m. Place of interment will be Memory Gardens, East Cocalico Township.
