Daisy L. Townsley, 87, Dutchmaid worker, Holy Trinity Lutheran member, enjoyed yardwork

Daisy L. Townsley, 87, of Ephrata, passed away Tuesday, May 31, 2016, at Fairmount Homes, where she had resided since 2011.

She was the loving wife of the late Donald W. Townsley, who passed away July 18, 1989. Daisy was born in Ephrata, and was a daughter of the late Lyman and Lillie (Royer) Leisey.

She was a longtime member of Holy Trinity Lutheran Church in Ephrata, where she had been active on many committees and the altar guild. She was a seamstress and had worked at the former Dutchmaid in Ephrata, Liphart clothing store in Lititz, and from her home. She also worked at the Weis supermarket in Ephrata.

Daisy was formerly a member of the Ephrata Pioneer Fire Company Ladies Auxiliary, the Ephrata VFW Cocalico Post No. 3376 Ladies Auxiliary, and the Golden Years Club. She loved working outside in her yard and spending time with her family, especially her grandchildren.

She is survived by two children: Dennis L. Townsley, husband of Janice, of Ephrata; and Denise L. (Townsley) Shirker, wife of Bruce L. Shirker; three grandchildren: Jacie (Townsley) Parmer, wife of Jonathan Parmer; Justin Townsley, husband of Jessica; and Matthew Shirker, all of Ephrata; four great-grandchildren: Tucker Parmer, Tanner Parmer, Emma Townsley, and Chase Townsley; and several nieces and nephews.

In addition to her husband and parents, Daisy was preceded in death by her 10 siblings: Warren, Galen, Betty Dussinger, Elmer, Anna Root, Ralph, Dora Keehn, Helen Martin, Levi, and Susan Leisey.

Services were held June 7 at Holy Trinity Lutheran Church, Ephrata, officiated by the Rev. Henry E. Herbener and the Rev. Pamela Carnes. Interment was in Cedar Hill Cemetery, Ephrata.
