Deaths of Local Interest – Jan. 26, 2017

Joyce E. Grossman, 65, of Lancaster, passed away at the Lancaster General Hospital on Jan. 20. She was a member of the Paradise Bible Fellowship. In the past Joyce had worked at Golden Living of Lancaster, formerly Duke Street Convalescent Home, as an aide for 44 years. She loved to read, collect dolls, stuffed dogs, Charlie Brown and Snoopy figurines and doing puzzles. Her sister, Susan K. Miller, lives in Ephrata.

Natalie J. (Burkey) Minnich, 55, of Lancaster, passed away Jan. 19 at Lancashire Hall, Neffsville, after a lengthy illness. She had been employed in human resources for Reading Hospital/Reading Health System. Natalie also had taught country line dancing classes in Ephrata. She was a collector of a variety of antiques and a lover of Mother Nature. She had served in the U.S. Army.

Ruth W. Montgomery, 91, formerly of Conestoga, died on Jan. 20 at Brethren Village, where she had been a resident for nearly five years. She was a longtime domestic worker, and lived more than 50 years on Main Street in Conestoga. She enjoyed doing needlework, watching game shows, especially Jeopardy! and Wheel of Fortune, and bowled for many years on the Kready Avenue Church League at Leisure Lanes. Her son, Randall L. Montgomery, husband of Jane, resides in Ephrata.

Patricia F. Morris, 81, of West Lampeter Township, passed away Jan. 16. She was a financial advisor for Thrivent Lutheran Services and also worked at Lowe’s. She was a member of Concordia Evangelical Lutheran Church, their altar guild and served as an assistant minister. She was a master gardener; a member of the Mayflower Society, 12th Generation; and sang in the Ephrata Cloister Choir.
