Deaths of Local Interest

Stanford F. Cox, 87, died suddenly at his home in Lancaster, on Nov. 29, 2013. Stan was a WWII vet. He was a 32nd degree Mason and member and past master of Ephrata Lodge 665, F & AM, and a member of the Lancaster Lodge of Perfection and the Reading Lodge of Consistory.

Edith M. “Sis” Getz, 95, formerly of New Holland, died Sunday, Dec. 8, 2013, at Zerbe Sisters Nursing Center, Narvon. A seamstress, she had worked at the Miller-Hess Shoe Co., Akron, and at the former Dutch Maid, New Holland. Her sister, Phyllis Kveragas, resides in Ephrata.

Jay Earl Nauman, 88, of East Petersburg, passed into eternal rest Dec. 4, 2013 at Hospice and Community Care, Mount Joy. He was a WWII vet. and long-time member of Salem United Methodist Church, Manheim. He was a member of the East Petersburg Historical Society, and a former member of the East Petersburg Lions Club and the East Petersburg Fire Company. His brother, Wilbur (husband of Gloria) lives in Ephrata.
