Dennis Gehman, 64, Reinholds, Vietnam vet, painter, NASCAR fan, enjoyed oldies music

Dennis Gehman, 64, of Reinholds, took the checkered flag on Thursday, Sept. 3, 2015, at Wellspan Ephrata Community Hospital.

He was born in Ephrata to the late Amos and Lillian (Goshert) Gehman, and was the husband of Vicki (Mellinger) Gehman.

Dennis worked was a painter; enjoyed woodworking; loved music that was oldies but goodies; was a diehard NASCAR fan, especially Jeff Gordon. He served his country in the U.S. Army during the Vietnam War.

In addition to his wife, he is survived by two sons: Jim, husband of Michelle Gehman, of Reinholds; Donald Fox Jr. of Ephrata; two daughters: Tammy, wife of Rodney Martin, of Ronks; Tracey Fox of Ephrata; three grandchildren: Austin Gehman, Aiden Gehman, Zane Hess; two brothers: Leon, husband of Elaine Gehman, of Lancaster; Gerald Gehman of Newmanstown; and a sister: Dorothy Stricker of Reamstown.

In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by a brother: James L. Gehman; and a sister: Betty Stricker.

A memorial service was held Sept. 9 at the Reamstown Church of God, Stevens, with Pastor Joel Hainley officiating.
