Diana L. Kaumeheiwa, 64, Ephrata Midget Football booster club founding member, avid cross-stitcher

Diana L. Kaumeheiwa, 64, formerly of Ephrata, passed away surrounded by family and loved ones on May 29, 2016, at her residence in Waianae, Hawaii.

She was born to the late Walter and Josephine Smith on Feb. 26, 1952 in Elm.

She was one of the original founding members of the Ephrata Midget Football booster club. She spent countless hours asking for gifts and donations from community businesses to raffle at fundraising events for the program.

She enjoyed cross-stitching blankets and pillows for newborns of friends and family. Many of those gifts are still cherished by the children who received them. Diana worked for many years for sewing factories in the local area. Diana enjoyed cooking and baking for family and friends. She baked and cooked every dish with love in her hands so that every day could be enjoyed.

Diana loved her family deeply. Her whole world revolved around her children and grandchildren. She would be excited at Christmas time and made sure everyone received a gift. She rarely forgot to send a card or gift on birthdays

She will be forever loved by her husband: Kalani Kaumeheiwa; her daughter: Cherie L. Rivera (Jose Rivera Sr.); her sons: Duane K. Shelton, Kamaka Kaumeheiwa, and Kalei Kaumeheiwa; grandchildren: Tylere Alvarado, Jose Rivera Jr., Manuel Rivera, and Phoenix Shelton; and sisters: Betty Barry and Eileen Landis.

Family will be receiving guests at Paul L. Gravenor Home for Funerals in Ephrata, on Saturday, June 11, from 10 to 11 a.m. Services will commence at 11 a.m. and interment will be held at Cedar Hill Cemetery after the service. The family will host a gathering of food and refreshments at the home of her daughter, Cherie Rivera.
