Donald R. Sweitzer, 76, of Stevens, passed away Wednesday, Jan. 8, 2014, at Hershey Medical Center.

He was born in Manchester to the late William and Clara D. (Simpson) Sweitzer and was the husband of Rose Mary (Cassell) Sweitzer with whom he shared 54 years of marriage.

Donald was a member of the Mt. Zion Baptist Church, Denver. He served his country in the U.S. Army, Signal Corp. During his working years, he worked as a maintenance mechanic for Gichner Shelter Systems and Tate Industries. He enjoyed walking and spending time with his family.

In addition to his wife, he is survived by two sons: Garland, husband of Grace Sweitzer; Pastor Keith, husband of Karen Sweitzer; eight grandchildren: Hannah; Paul; Esther; Lydia; Joel; Bryan, husband of Lynn; Kristi and Caleb.

In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by a brother: John Sweitzer and a sister: Margaret Sweitzer.

A private graveside service will be held at the Indiantown Gap National Cemetery at the convenience of the family.
