Dora F. Hornberger, 84, East Cocalico grad, New Holland Family restaurant, Moyer’s worker

Dora F. Hornberger, 84, of Brownstown, passed away Sunday, Aug. 20, 2017, at Conestoga View.

She was born in East Cocalico Township to the late Harry and Sallie (Nagle) Hirniesen and was the wife of the late Harold Hornberger who died in 1993.

Dora graduated from East Cocalico High School. She retired after working for the New Holland Family Restaurant. Prior to that she worked for the W.W. Moyer Co. She was a member of Swamp Christian Fellowship Church. She enjoyed crocheting, reading, and attending yard sales.

Dora is survived by four children: John, husband of Sandy (Merklinger) Hornberger, of Strasburg; Ronald L., husband of Florence “Doll” (Merklinger) Hornberger, of Quarryville; Barbara A. Rodman-Myers, wife of Jeffrey Myers, of Brownstown; and Joan Gappa of Ephrata; seven grandchildren; seven great-grandchildren; and two sisters: Anna Mae and Mabel Hirniesen, formerly of Denver.

In addition to her parents and husband, she was preceded in death by a son: James D. Hornberger; two brothers: Emory and Paul Hirniesen; a sister: Flora Hirneisen; and a sister-in-law: Kathryn Hirniesen.

Funeral services will be held at 2 p.m., on Thursday, Aug. 24, at the Roseboro Stradling Funeral Home, 533 Walnut St., Denver, with Pastor Larry Kipp officiating. Interment will take place in the Swamp Cemetery.

Memorial contributions in Dora’s memory may be made to Swamp Christian Fellowship Church, 390 Swamp Church Road, Reinholds, PA 17569.
