Dr. Martin N. Gyomber, 87, of Denver, Jan. 18, 2018 in Reading Hospital.

He was predeceased by his wife of 45 years: Marie H. (Dobrosky) Gyomber. He was a son of the late George J. Dumbier-Gyomber and Elizabeth (Pribula) Gyomber.

Marty was predeceased by brothers: Daniel, Julius, and Joseph; and by sisters: Irene Lash and Mildred Brobst.

He is survived by nieces, nephews and close friends.

He was a member of SS. Cyril & Methodius Roman Catholic Church of Reading, PHI Delta Kappa, IOTA Lambda Sigma, PVA, PA Vocational Education Conference Committee, Lions Club, TPA, and Slovak Catholic Sokol. He enjoyed playing cards with friends.

Martin graduated from Muhlenberg High School in 1948. He also graduated from Wyomissing Polytechnic Institute, had a B.S. from the University of Pennsylvania, a master’s in education from Temple, and a PhD from Florida State Christian College.

He was employed by Textile Machine Works, taught vocational education at Pottstown Junior High School, Northern Chester, and Exeter High School. He was coordinator at Berks County AVTS (vo-tech), principal at Mount Joy and Brownstown AVTS, retiring in 1991. Marty was coordinator and instructor of Alive 55 Safe Driving.

Services will be held Jan. 25 at 9:30 a.m. at SS. Cyril & Methodius Roman Catholic Church. Burial will be private.

In lieu of flowers, contributions may be to either the Cancer Society or American Heart Association, or Masses at St. Peter RCC, Reading.

Gallman-Sonoski Funeral Home, Reading is in charge of arrangements.
