Dr. Richard H. Kimball, 93, Ephrata, WWII vet, Rutgers professor, Prudential VP, avid golfer

Dr. Richard H. Kimball, 93, Ephrata, died July 27, 2015, at Mount Joy Hospice Center.

Born in Portland, Maine, a son of the late William W. and Helen (Hardwick) Kimball Sr., his wife of 61 years, Joan I. (McLeod) Kimball, died Jan. 17, 2014.

Richard was vice president of Prudential Insurance Co., Newark, N.J.; and a professor at Rutgers University. He received his master and doctorate degrees from New York University and was a World War II Navy veteran. Richard was a member of Bethany United Church of Christ, an avid golfer and cherished his family.

Surviving is his daughter: Debra A., married to D. Robert Thompson, Ephrata; son: William W. Kimball, married to Dennis Grundlock, Provincetown, Mass.; six grandchildren; and four great-grandchildren.

Brothers William W. Kimball Jr. and Col. George E. Kimball, predeceased him.

A memorial celebration of life will be held Saturday, Aug. 22, at 10:30 a.m. from Bethany United Church of Christ, 140 E. Main St., Ephrata, with the Rev. William J. LaSalle officiating. Inurnment will follow in Bethany Cemetery, Ephrata Township.
