Earl H. Buchter, 80, Ephrata, Korea vet, retired from Met Life, avid sports fan

Earl H. Buchter, 80, Ephrata, died Nov. 17, 2014, in Ephrata Community Hospital.

Born in Mt. Airy, a son of the late William H. and Minnie N. (Hertzog) Buchter, he was a Navy veteran of the Korean War.

Earl was a member of Mellinger’s Lutheran Church, Schoeneck, loved the outdoors and was an avid sports fan. He was a retired top national producing insurance agent with Metropolitan Life Insurance Company for 32 years.

Surviving are two daughters: Beth E. Buchter, partnered with Kathy Styer, Lancaster; and Colleen M., married to Randal S. Boyer, Reading; a son: Anthony A.Buchter, Hockessin, Del.; grandsons: Randal J. and Riley D. Boyer; and sisters: M. Ruth Steffy Hollinger, Betty J. Zimmerman and “Dolly” Vozella.

He was predeceased by siblings: Kathryn Brossman, Alvin, William, Paul and John Buchter.

It was Earl’s wishes that all arrangements be handled privately by the family. Rather than flowers, contributions may be sent to the American Cancer Society, 314 Good Drive, Lancaster, PA 17603.
