Edwin A. Spackman Jr., 60, Ira G. Steffy & Son welder, avid Philly sports fan, birdhouse builder

Edwin A. Spackman Jr., 60, of Reinholds, passed away Wednesday, Jan. 3, 2018 at Ephrata Hospital surrounded by loved ones.

Born in Lancaster, he was the husband of Joan M. (Sagerer) Spackman, with whom he shared 34 years of marriage. He was the son of Edwin A. Spackman Sr. and the late Joanne (Caldwell) Spackman.

He attended Cocalico High School and after graduation he enjoyed welding for 40 years. He was employed by Ira G. Steffy & Son. Above all else, Ed valued family and friends. He enjoyed the outdoors and loved to take his family fishing, camping, and hunting. He loved working with his hands and out in the shed he would make birdhouses for the backyard. An avid sports fan, Ed could be found cheering on the Eagles, Flyers, and Phillies on game day.

He is survived by his father: Edwin A. Spackman; his son: Jody C. Spackman; his daughter: Crystal L. Spackman; two sisters: Denise A. Dochterman and Debbie L. Spackman; and five grandchildren.

He was preceded in death by his mother: Joanne (Caldwell) Spackman; and brother: Thomas L. Spackman.

A memorial service will be held at 1 p.m. on Saturday, Jan. 13, at East Cocalico Church of the Brethren, 4 Bunker Hill Road, Reamstown, with Pastor Hess officiating.
