Emma ‘Mutti’ Kolenaty, 96, Akron, high-spirited, loved flowers, dogs, and classical music

By on October 25, 2017

Our mother, Emma ‘Mutti’ Kolenaty was born in Pirkenhammer, Czechoslovakia, on Nov. 28, 1920.

Her life was filled with adventure, happiness, world travels, good friends, and a strong independent will to live her life to the fullest.

Let us remember her as the “German lady” who loved her flowers, her dogs, traveling, enjoying cruises, classical music, having friends over for a “kaffeeklatsch,” and joining Planet Fitness at the age of 89 to stay fit (her last visit to the gym was on Oct. 7, 2017).

She was always high spirits and enjoyed every moment of her 35,405 days in this beautiful world of ours.

Emma, of Akron, and her late husband, Josef Kolenaty, immigrated to the United States in 1951. She is survived by her two daughters: Marcella and Georgina; and two grandchildren: Alexandra and Brandon.

“Life is a small gap between birth and death, enjoy every single moment of it.” And, as Emma would say, most importantly, whatever you do, have fun.

Thank you to Hospice & Community Care and to By Your Side Home Care for their caring, loving support.
