Emory L. Gress, 87, Korea vet, Kalas shipping clerk, enjoyed woodworking, gardening

Emory L. Gress, 87, of Reinholds, passed away Sunday, July 16, 2017, at Ephrata Manor.

He was born in West Cocalico Township to the late Earl F. and Elsie C. (Lied) Gress, and was the husband of Patricia F. (Wenrich) Gress, with whom he shared 66 years of marriage.

He was a member of Swamp Evangelical Lutheran Church, and Reinholds Fire Company, and a lifetime member of the Reinholds VFW. He enjoyed gardening and woodworking. Emory was a veteran of the U.S. Army, having served during the Korean War.

Emory worked as a deliveryman for Cloister Dairies prior to retiring from his job as a shipping clerk for Kalas.

In addition to his wife, Emory is survived by two sons: Kory L. Gress of Reinholds; and Kyle L. Gress, husband of Kimberly, of Exton; five grandchildren: Madison, Josiah, Mariah, Alex, and Max; two great-grandchildren: Oliver and Anna; a brother: Edgar L. Gress, husband of Beatrice of Reinholds; and a sister: Edith L. Gress of Newmanstown.

He was preceded in death by a son: Kirk L. Gress.

A viewing will be held on Friday, July 21, from 10:30 to 11:30 a.m., at the Swamp Evangelical Lutheran Church, 275 Swamp Church Road, Reinholds. Funeral services will follow at 11:30 a.m., with Pastor Bonnie Oplinger officiating. Interment will take place in the Swamp Cemetery.
