Esther N. Hoover, 89, Conestoga Mennonite Church member, mother of 10

Esther N. Hoover, 89, of Leola, passed away unexpectedly Thursday, May 11, 2017, at her home.

She was born in East Earl Township to the late John and Ada (Nolt) Hoover, and was the wife of the late Aaron N. Hoover, who preceded her in death Sept. 24, 2014.

She was a member of Conestoga Mennonite Church, Groffdale Conference.

Esther is survived by eight sons: Leon (Lucy Snyder) Hoover, John Aaron (Elizabeth Nolt) Hoover, Enos Hoover, Ivan Hoover, Paul (Eva Weaver) Hoover, all of Shippensburg; Roy (Martha Weaver) Hoover, Amon (Erma Burkholder) Hoover, both of Hopkinsville, Ky.; Norman (Jennifer Gehman) Hoover of Selinsgrove; two daughters: Emma Hoover, Ella (Ivan) Sauder, both of Leola; 61 grandchildren; 87 great-grandchildren; two half-sisters: Fannie Hoover, Eva Hoover, both of New Holland; a half-brother: Ivan (Mary) Hoover of Shippensburg; two sisters-in-law: Alice (Walter) Hoover of Churchtown, Ella (John) Hoover of Dorchester, Wisc.; and a half-sister-in-law: Jean (Eli) Hoover of New Holland.

In addition to her husband and parents, she was preceded in death by two daughters-in-law: Mary and Anna Hoover; two grandchildren; three great-grandchildren; four brothers: Paul, Walter, Isaac and John Aaron Hoover; four sisters: Alice Hoover, Lena Reiff, Lydia Hoover, and Emma Burkholder; two half-brothers: Eli and Henry Hoover; and a half-sister: Elizabeth Hoover.

Services were held May 15 at Conestoga Mennonite Church, Ephrata, with Bishop Titus Martin officiating. Interment took place in the adjoining church cemetery.
