Francis X. Hertz Jr., 65, Vietnam vet, chef, enjoyed photography and country music

Francis “Frank” X. Hertz, Jr., of Camden, Del., passed away suddenly, Saturday, Aug. 8, 2015, in Kent General Hospital, Dover. He was 65.

Frank was born April 25, 1950, in Lititz, to the late Francis and Anna (Flick) Hertz.

He had worked in retail management, and as a chef for several years throughout California, Pennsylvania, and Illinois. Frank was a former member of the Veterans of Foreign Wars, and the American Legion; having served in the Marines, during the Vietnam War. In his free time, Frank enjoyed country music, photography, building models, and had several Pinterest pages.

Francis is survived by his wife of 40 years: Judith E. (Griffith) Hertz, who was raised in Ephrata; two sisters: Gertrude Walton, wife of George, of Lititz; and Rita Whiskeyman, wife of Earl, of Milford, Conn.; a cousin: Robert Hertz, of Lititz; several nieces and nephews; and his “children,” his cats: Willie and Waylon.

In addition to his parents, he is preceded in death by his sisters: Theresa Fink and Pauline Agnes Hertz.

A celebration of his life will be held at 1 p.m., Saturday, Aug. 22, at the American Legion Hall, 109 N. Broad St., Lititz.

In lieu of flowers, contributions may be made to the Vasculitis Foundation, P.O. Box 28660, Kansas City, MO 64188.

Condolences may be sent via Pippin Funeral Home, Camden-Wyoming, Del., handled the arrangements.
