G. Joan Lacy, 87, Brownstown Restaurant worker, marched with Scotties Baton Corps

G. Joan Lacy, 87, of Lancaster, formerly of Brownstown, passed away on Monday, Dec. 18, 2017, at Conestoga View.

She was born in Allentown to the late William and Priscilla (Hankin) Bittenbender, and was the wife of the late John K. Lacy Sr., who passed away in 2001.

Joan was a member of the Lutheran Church of the Good Shepherd, Lancaster. During her working years, she worked as a hostess/waitress at Brownstown Restaurant for many years and was also a cashier at the Brownstown Elementary School. Joan was known as “Nana Banana” to the tiny tots of the Scotties Baton Corps. She marched with them in every parade, to make sure that they kept up. She also volunteered at Lancaster General Hospital. Joan loved her family and her hometown of Brownstown.

She is survived by two sons: John K., husband of Nancy L. (Snyder) Lacy of Ephrata; David A., husband of Michele (Stouffer) Lacy of Denver; a daughter: Peggy Ann, wife of Dennis Steininger of Brownstown; five grandchildren; and nine great-grandchildren.

In addition to her husband and parents, she was preceded in death by a brother: Robert J. Bittenbender; and two sisters: Mae Trexler and Dorothy Beck.

Services were Dec. 21 at Lutheran Church of the Good Shepherd, Lancaster, with Pastor Mark Russell officiating. Interment took place in the Brownstown Cemetery.
