Glenn A. Montgomery,Dutch Lanes owner, dies

Glenn A. Montgomery, 73, of Leola, passed away Monday, Jan. 19, 2015 at Maple Farms Nursing Center.

Born in Lancaster, he was the son of the late Aldus and Kathryn (Hersh) Montgomery. Glenn was the husband of 53 years to Darlene (Rineer) Montgomery.

He was a 1959 graduate of McCaskey High School. In that same year, he was the Lancaster County High School Tennis Champion and was runner-up in the state tennis final. Along with his wife, Glenn was the owner of 222 Dutch Lanes, Ephrata.

He attended Westminster Presbyterian Church and was a member of the Ephrata Lions Club. Glenn’s interests have always involved sports of any kind including: bowling, tennis, golf, softball and baseball. He was inducted into the Lancaster County Bowling Hall of Fame and the Lancaster County Softball Hall of Fame.

In addition to his wife, Darlene, Glenn is survived by two sons: Todd A. Montgomery, husband of Rebecca; and Eric L. Montgomery, husband of Tara; grandchildren: Amanda Deebel and Zachary Montgomery; great-grandchildren: Emma and Olivia; and a brother: Dale Montgomery, husband of Joanne.

Services were held Jan. 23 at Westminster Presbyterian Church, Lancaster. Interment was private.

In lieu of flowers, contributions may be made to Lancaster USBC Youth, 3440 Columbia Ave., Lancaster, PA 17603, for a youth scholarship fund in Glenn’s memory.
