Gordon B. Heal Sr., 91, Ephrata, WWII and Korean war vet, engineer, worked with Scouts

Gordon B. Heal Sr., 91, of Ephrata, passed away Thursday, Jan. 15, 2015, at Fairmount Home in Ephrata.

He was the loving husband of Betty C. (Caton) Heal. Born in San Francisco, Calif., he was the son of the late Gordon and Elmira (Sands) Jordan.

Gordon was a Navy veteran, having served in both World War II and the Korean War. After his military career, he worked as a stationary engineer for the Arco Co., Philadelphia. He was a member of the New Holland VFW, the Pike Township Sportsman Relief Association, and was an active member of the Boy Scouts of America. He enjoyed traveling.

Surviving in addition to his wife is a son: Gordon B. Heal Jr., husband of Diane, of Chesapeake Beach, Md.; five stepsons: Anthony DiDomenicis, husband of Veronica, of New Holland; John DiDomenicis, husband of Donna, of New Jersey; Billy DiDomenicis, husband of Roseanne, of Pennsylvania; Scott DiDomenicis, husband of Donna, of Pennsylvania; and Wesley DiDomenicis, husband of Jennifer, of New Jersey; 13 grandchildren; nine great-grandchildren; and numerous nieces and nephews.

Preceding him in death are his parents, his siblings, and his first wife: Carolyn Heal.

Services were held Jan. 20 at New Holland United Methodist Church, with interment following at the Valley Forge Memorial Gardens, King of Prussia.

In lieu of flowers, contributions may be made to the New Holland United Methodist Church.
