Hazel G. Hornberger, 98, dental assistant, enjoyed crosswords, Ephrata Manor activities

Hazel G. Hornberger, 98, of Ephrata, formerly of Denver, passed away Wednesday, Feb. 22, 2017, at Ephrata Manor.

She was born in Denver to the late Wesley and Anna (Rutt) Gensemer, and was the wife of the late Paul S. Hornberger, who passed away in 1979.

Hazel enjoyed doing activities at Ephrata Manor and working crossword puzzles. She had worked as a dental assistant for Dr. Stayer in Denver.

Hazel is survived by a son: J. Phillip Hornberger, husband of Colleen, of Denver; five grandchildren: James Hornberger; Andy Hornberger, husband of Dina; Dawn, wife of Rod Shupp; Holly, wife of Dana Showalter; and Eric Hornberger; 10 great-grandchildren; and a great-great-grandson.

In addition to her parents and husband, she was preceded in death by a brother: Richard Gensemer; and three sisters: Kathleen Rathman, Luetta Graybill, and Dorothy Shober.

Services were held Feb. 27 at Roseboro Stradling Funeral Home, Denver, with Pastor Brad Haws officiating. Interment took place in the Fairview Cemetery Annex.
