Herbert C. Nixdorf, vet, truck driver
Herbert C. Nixdorf, 91, of Lititz, passed away Saturday, Oct. 1, 2011 at Moravian Manor.
Born in Ephrata, he was the son of the late Edward and Elva Carpenter Nixdorf and was married to the late Anna Baer Nixdorf.
Herbert served in the U.S. Navy during World War II and was a member of the Lititz Church of the Brethren and the Alexander Mack Sunday school class.
Prior to his retirement, he was employed as a truck driver for Armstrong World Industries. He enjoyed fishing and camping.
Survivors include his sons: Herbert, husband of Gloria Nixdorf, of Lancaster; and Edward S., husband of Kathy Nixdorf, of Lititz; daughter: Mary Ann, wife of Barry L. Wealand, of Stevens; nine grandchildren; 12 great-grandchildren; and one great-great- granddaughter.
He was preceded in death by a daughter: Ruth Adams; brother: Edward C.; and sisters: Dorothy Miller and Helen Sprout.
Funeral services were held on Oct. 4 at the Lititz Church of the Brethren. Burial took place in Longeneckers Brethren Cemetery, Lititz.
