Howard C. Shirk, Akron, WWII vet, was RCA picture tube tech, enjoyed motorcycling

Howard C. Shirk, of Akron, passed away Dec. 27, 2014.

He was born in Hopeland on April 10, 1921.

Howard served in WWII along the Iran/Iraq border, supplying Russian allies against Hitler. He retired from RCA with over 30 years of service as a picture tube technician. Howard loved to ride his motorcycle through the PA countryside and spend time outdoors at his woodlot in Schoeneck.

He is survived by his daughter: Janice Yatsko.

He was preceded in death by his wife: Violet, who died in January of 2010.

A memorial service will be held Friday, Jan. 16, at 11 a.m. at the Holy Trinity Lutheran Church, 167 E. Main St., Ephrata. Burial will be private and at convenience of the family.
