Jacob R. Echternach III, 62, Ephrata, zoning board member, project manager at Scenic Ridge

Jacob “Jack” R. Echternach III, 62, of Ephrata, passed away Thursday, Jan. 15, 2015, at Hospice and Community Care, Mt. Joy.

He was born in Lancaster to Jacob R. Echternach of Leola and the late Margaret Joanne (Michaelis) Echternach and was the husband of Shirley (Eby) Echternach with whom he shared 43 years of marriage.

Jack was a member of the Ebenezer Evangelical Congregational Church, Brownstown. He was a 1970 graduate of Conestoga Valley High School, and earned a degree from Industrial Management Institute in Reading. He worked as a project manager at Scenic Ridge. Jack served on the Ephrata Township zoning hearing board and the board of Twin Pines Camp. He enjoyed hiking, going to the beach, and especially enjoyed spending time with his family.

In addition to his wife and father, he is survived by two sons: Jeffrey R. Echternach of Ephrata; and Eric L., husband of Miranda Echternach of Lititz; a daughter: Megan R., wife of Chad D. Allen of Frederick, Md.; two grandsons: Aidan Jacob Echternach and Connor Allen; two brothers: Joseph M., husband of Donna Echternach of Texas; and John M., husband of Judy Echternach of Ephrata.

Services were held Jan. 20 at Ebenezer Evangelical Congregational Church, Brownstown, with Pastor Keith Miller officiating. Interment took place in Memory Gardens Memorial Cemetery.
