James S. Wenger, 85, Liverpool, member of Stauffer’s Mennonite Church, father of 13

James S. Wenger, 85 of Liverpool, died Monday morning, June 29, 2015, at his home.

He was born Sept. 7, 1929 at West Earl Hospital, Lancaster County, the son of the late Noah R. and Esther (Stauffer) Wenger. On Feb. 2, 1954, he married the former Anna Z. Martin, who survives.

Mr. Wenger was a member of the Stauffer’s Mennonite Church at Riverview, Liverpool.

In addition to his wife: Anna; Mr. Wenger is survived by his 12 children: Richard M. Wenger and wife Marie; Lamar M. Wenger and wife Katie, both of Bainbridge, Ohio; Alvin Wenger and wife Irene; James M. Wenger Jr. and wife Lena, both of Port Trevorton; and Carl Wenger and wife Ruth of Liverpool; Kathryn Wenger and Edith Wenger, both of Liverpool; Marilyn M. Martin, wife of Clarence Z., of Selinsgrove; Grace M. Martin, wife of James Z.; Ruthann M. Martin, wife of Kervin S.; Anita M. Martin, wife of Luke S., all of Bainbridge, Ohio; and Rosanna M. Stauffer, wife of Abraham B., of Homer City; 94 grandchildren; 46 great-grandchildren; and many nieces and nephews.

Mr. Wenger was preceded in death by a daughter, Mary Wenger, in infancy.

Services were held July 3 at Stauffer’s Mennonite Church at Riverview, Liverpool. Burial was in the adjoining church cemetery.

The George P. Garman Funeral Homes, Mt. Pleasant Mills, have been entrusted with the arrangements.
