Jerry A. Hake, 68, Brownstown, Vietnam vet, Green Berets captain, enjoyed movies, birds

Jerry A. Hake, 68, of Brownstown, died Nov. 20, 2015.

He was born Aug. 26, 1947 in Lancaster and was the son of the late Gerald C. and Rita (Rupp) Hake. He was married to his loving wife, Kathy G. Hake.

Together with their blended family he was the loving father of: Jolanda T., wife of David Hausner, of Parkton, Md.; Jodi L. Koenig of Gaithersburg, Md.; Jami Gibble, wife of Jody Gibble, of Manheim; and Robert Love Jr., partner of Rose Shutt, of Manheim. He is also survived by eight grandchildren, whom he loved dearly; and two sisters: Bonnie S., wife of David A. Saganich, of Conestoga; and Robbin L., wife of Stephen Natur, of Millersville.

After graduating from McCaskey High School in 1965, Jerry joined the U.S. Army. After completing Officer’s Candidate School, he served in the infantry serving two tours in Vietnam in Special Forces. While in Vietnam, he was promoted to captain in the Green Berets. He was especially good at coming up with crazy things to do with his grandchildren to make memories.

Some of his favorite past times were his work, reading, watching movies and just relaxing in the backyard watching birds. He was especially good at coming up with crazy things to do with the grandchildren to make memories.

Services and interment will be private at the convenience of the family.
