Jerry ‘Chokey’ Heil, 76, Redman Homes inspector, Akron Hunting Club original member

Jerry “Chokey” Heil, 76, of Denver, passed away Sunday, Nov. 20, 2016, at Wellspan Ephrata Community Hospital.

He was born in Akron to Arthur and Violet (Showers) Heil.

Jerry was an inspector for Redman Homes before retiring in 2000. He was a member of Northern Lancaster County Game and Fish Protective Association. He was an original member of the Akron Hunting Club and enjoyed spending time at the cabin. He also enjoyed fishing, hunting and traveling, especially out west.

Jerry is survived by a son: Timothy Heil; four daughters: Jody Funk, wife of Darryl Edwards; Lori Hetrich, companion of Ken Stoner; Lisa Anne, wife of Gregory Schmuck; a brother: Alvin Showers,, husband of Janet; two sisters: Joanne, wife of Bob Groff; Tina, wife of Chet Behney; four grandchildren: Zachary and Hannah Funk, Jordan Jo Hetrich, and Montana Skye Heil. He is also survived by his companion: Barb Sweigart, and her extended family.

A viewing will be held on Wednesday, Nov. 23, from 12 to 2 p.m., at the Stradling Funeral Home, 30 N. Ninth St., Akron. Interment will be private at the convenience of the family.
